This is applicable to any business with the ability to issue discount codes or coupons.
Issuing a code to the person invited
The idea is to incentivize people that have been invited or referred to complete the lead form (Step 3 in your builder) in order to receive some sort of discount or coupon. The best way to do this is to put the coupon or discount inside your referral program.
There are two ways to do this:
Firstly, you can include the coupon in Step 4 of your referral program. Don’t forget to add a button on the step as well that will link to your store or purchase page.
Secondly, you can include the coupon code inside the email notification that will go to the person invited once they complete the lead form. To do this, you’ll need to go to your Settings tab inside your campaign builder and edit the email notification for the Person Invited.
A few tips from our referral experts:
- Don’t make the coupon too long, it needs to be short and memorable.
- Make sure the coupon you supply is a one for all that can be used multiple times.
- Don’t worry if your coupon gets out on any coupon or discount sites. Even if someone gets a hold of it and signs up, you will still be making a sale, plus you won’t have to pay out a reward as new lead didn’t come from a referrer.
Issuing a code to the person referring
Once the person invited has used your coupon code and converted, you will then need to reward the person who referred them.
To make this process easier for you, you can apply the same principle above and create a generic coupon that can be used multiple times. Once a person invited converts, you can qualify them in Referral Factory and our system can trigger an email that goes to the person who referred them. You can include this generic code in the email notification.
Alternatively, you can create a unique code for the person referring and email it to them directly from your platform or system.
If you are a subscription-based business and you are offering a free month or discount as a reward for the person referring, you would need to go into your platform and apply the reward value to the account of the person referrering.
