π Want to know what else you can do with rewards on Referral Factory? Read the overview.
How Does It Work
Referral Factory's coupon feature is a way to give new customers or existing customers a unique coupon code or discount code to use on your platform. You upload your unique discount codes, and Referral Factory sends them out automatically to the right people at the right time.
β
Hereβs how it works, step-by-step:
You create your reward inside the rewards tab.
You upload a list of unique coupon codes (e.g. from Shopify, WooCommerce, or any other system)
When someone is successfully referred and is due a coupon the system automatically assigns the next unused coupon from that list.
Coupons are not linked to the referrer. That means, if person X refers five people, each person will still get the next available coupon from the general list, not a custom coupon tied to person X.
You can always add more coupons later if your list runs low, and customize how they appear using styling options.
π‘ Important Note: This system ensures fairness and prevents duplicate coupon usage, but it does not allow assigning one static coupon to all referrals from a specific user.
How To Add A Coupon and Issue Via Email
Step 1: Generate A Batch of Unique Coupon Codes in the App Where Your Customers Checkout
β Use your point of sale software, billing software, or e-commerce store to generate a batch of unique coupon codes, which can include any combination of letters and numbers. Ensure you create enough codes to be issued as rewards to your qualifying users. You will be notified when 85%, 95%, and 100% of your coupon codes have been issued. Additional codes can be uploaded later.
β Export your coupon codes as a CSV file. Download a sample CSV file.
Step 2: Add Reward From the Rewards Dashboard in Referral Factory
β In the left-hand navigation bar of your Referral Factory dashboard, click the Rewards tab and select Dashboard from the dropdown menu.
β Select the Coupon tab.
β Click Add Reward.
Step 3: Name Your Reward and Link A Campaign
β Name the reward. The name is used for internal management purposes and wonβt be shown to your users.
β Select the relevant campaign.
β Click Create.
βοΈ Rewards are linked to campaigns. If you have multiple campaigns and want to issue rewards in each of them, you will need to create multiple rewards.
Step 4: Choose Who Should Be Rewarded
β Choose who should be rewarded: the Person Referring or the Person Invited. If you want to reward both users in the same campaign, you should create multiple rewards.
β Note that coupon rewards can only be issued once-off. Should you wish to issue a recurring reward, please select a Fixed Amount, Commission, or Custom reward.
β Click Next.
Step 5: Select How and When to Issue the Reward
β For the issuing method, select Issue via Email.
β Select when you want the reward to be triggered.
β Click Next.
Step 6: Finalize Your Rules
β Review the rules youβve set so far.
β Click Next.
Step 7: Upload and Style Your Coupons
β Upload the CSV file of coupon codes you created in Step 1. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the codes manually.
β Style the look and feel of your coupon codes. These can be inserted into email notifications and pages for the Person Referring and the Person Invited. You can also edit the style of your coupon at a later stage from inside your campaign builder.
Step 8: Configure Your Reward Email Notification
β To trigger an email when a reward is issued, toggle the feature on and use the drag-and-drop builder to edit it. Your email notification will be automatically styled in the design of your campaign and will issue a unique coupon code to each reward recipient.
β Click Next.
π You can disable or edit this email notification from the Rewards Dashboard by clicking the blue button in the Actions column alongside the relevant reward.
π You can also insert coupons into other email notifications, for example, the email notification for the Person Invited when they join your campaign.
Step 9: Activate Your Reward
β If you would like to automatically issue rewards, toggle on auto-issue. This means you will not have to authorize these rewards to be issued, they will be issued automatically. This method is NOT recommended.
β Set whether you would like to limit the number of coupons that can be issued to any single user. The limit is the number of coupons to be issued, not the value of the reward.
β Click Activate.
π Now that youβve added a reward, learn how to export and/or issue rewards that become due.
